        Trial date set in 26-year-old Mishawaka murder case

        Over 26 years after Theresa Burns was found shot to death in her home in Mishawaka, Phillip Geans is scheduled to stand trial for her murder. Geans had his trial date set Tuesday in St. Joseph County court, after it was originally continued in June. Jury selection is scheduled to begin on Dec. 4, with the "Commencement of Evidence" scheduled to begin on Dec. 5. Geans is charged with Murder, and was originally arrested in December of 2013 for the 1988 killing of Burns.

        The Indiana Department of Transportation announced Monday that the new U.S. 31 between South Bend and Plymouth will open to traffic Thursday, Aug. 21 in an attempt.
