After coaching the Notre Dame Track and Cross Country teams for 26 seasons, Tim Connelly is no longer a coach for the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame Sports Information Director John Heisler said that after Joe Piane retired, the new coach had the ability to hire a new staff. Heisler said Connelly was not part of that plan.

Lakeshore football starts a new era with Bryan Keim

 Michigan high schools were able to practice for the first time today.  And it was a new era at Lakeshore.  Bryan Keim was the defensive coordinator who replaced Denny Dock who retired after 26 years leading the Lancers.  FOX 28's Adam Shear was at practice to see how the first day went.

Penn hopes to improve with key players back

 Penn was 12-1 last year, lost to Carmel in the Semi-State.  They also lost quarterback Zach Oakley to graduation.  He's now at Central Michigan.  The Kingsmen will host Carmel in a scrimmage Friday and then open up at home with Valpo on August 22nd.

Concord hopes to continue the football tradition

KeiVarae Russell is stronger and more confident

 The Notre Dame football team had day 2 of camp today at the Culver Academies.  The Irish will be leaning on defensive back KeVarae Russell this year.  Not a bad idea, especially seeing that he has bulked up quite a bit.  KeiVarae said, "I feel so much stronger. You watch when we get pads on, it's so slippery to hit guys, They sittin there talkin about cover 2 and he's there slippin on me, But once we get pads on you're gonna see how much stronger I am"

   Although he hasn't officially been named, Everett Golson took all of the first team reps Monday.   It was the first day of Fall Camp and the Irish are practicing the first week at Culver Academies.  Golson said, "I'm ready.  I'm ready to go.  My summer.  We talked about my summer was pretty good.  Trying to get back in and win this thing."

Hill United Men's Fastpitch wins the ASA Major

 The Hill United Chiefs from New York won the Men's Major ASA National Championship in South Bend Sunday.  The Chiefs beat the New York Gremlins 7-4 in the championship.  These guys are already planning to come back to South Bend next year for the prestigious ISC World Tournament.

 Ben Downey said,  "When you had a quarterback like Matt Monserez who is walking on at Purdue and you had 6-3, 6-4 receivers as well as a big offensive line, it's not the type of offense that you have every year.  So definitely some huge shoes to fill offensively but the seniors and the coaching staff has really gotten together and gotten on the same page and we'll try to play off of this years strengths."

    A man convicted of the 2004 homicide of his twin brother in Lakeville was caught by prison staff after he was reported missing from his cell. Philip Littler, 28, was apprehended by staff at the Pendleton State Correctional Facility after they reportedly found him on the roof of the administration building, just before 1:00am Wednesday morning. Officers located Littler after his cell was found empty during a routine security check.More >>

    Today was the first day of school for students in Penn-Harris-Madison and South Bend School Corporations and that means drivers have to start paying attention to school zone speeds again. Police will be out looking for speeders and distracted drivers as school starts up again. "There's a marked squad car right there...and they still don't slow down," Lieutenant Matt Blank of the St. Joseph County Police said.More >>
