Natalie Will helped NorthWood win the State Championship in 1999 and led the Panthers to the Final 4 in '97. In the process, Will became NorthWood's all-time leading scorer with 1,279 points. That record stayed until last week when Senior Morgan Olson broke the record. Tom DeBaets will be inducted into the Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame in March. DeBaets was the coach for South Bend Clay when they won the 1994 state championship. In 17 seasons he had a record of 233-154. He played at LaSalle. Coached at New Prairie, Clay and Riley. More>>
Bremen junior Dylan Shumaker returned to the wrestling mat today for his first match today after more than a year long fight with cancer. Disney might be calling him family soon enough because Dylan won the match 5-2. From there he won four more matches throughout the day. Brett Banasiewicz was injured in a BMX accident in 2012. An accident at a BMX event in Virginia Beach caused a brain injury. Banasiewica has had to learn how to walk, talk and even ride again. Monday night was the annual FOX 28 "Highlight of the Year" show. This year Michiana's best football players gathered with Dean Huppert and Adam Shear at the State Theatre in South Bend. Nik Olson won the prestigious Highlight of the Year. The FOX 28 Sports team also reported that Kyle Park had been named the new football coach at Goshen High School.
Notre Dame beat BYU 23-13 Saturday to improve to 8-3 this season. For seniors like TJ Jones, Tommy Rees, Chris Watt and Zack Martin, it was important to finish their careers in Notre Dame Stadium with a victory.
