You may have gotten a real shock at the pump if you noticed around a 30 cent jump almost overnight.
Prices were coming in at around $2.27 a gallon for regular unleaded.
That's up around 30 cents from where it has been.
AAA says there are several things at play here.
First, international and domestic demand is up, which makes the price go up.
Second, they're also in the midst of their switch to the summer blend of gas which is better for the environment, but costs more to make.
Ahmad Hamadeh, AAA Field Manager says, "The other thing is we're also seeing a turnaround in our economy which is a good thing. and that's obviously boosting our investors. They're starting to invest more in crude oil and that'll raise it so any turnaround in the economy is always a good thing."
The prices also traditionally rise as we get closer to the Memorial Day holiday.
AAA says they are still seeing plenty of people traveling and planning trips.
