BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - An Indiana University law professor will be teaching this fall as she awaits a U.S. Senate vote on her nomination to a senior position in the Justice Department.
President Barack Obama in January picked Dawn Johnsen to head the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, but the nomination has stalled after she won committee approval in March.
Johnsen is to teach a constitutional law seminar on "Sexuality, Reproduction and the Law" for IU this fall. All the seminar class periods are scheduled before mid-October, after which time students will complete a research paper.
Law school Dean Lauren Robel told The Herald-Times of Bloomington that administrators were working with Johnsen to make sure she could continue teaching until she is confirmed.
