A former patient of Riley Hospital, his family and friends wanted to give back.
And Thursday, they broke ground on an incredible project in Plymouth.
It's being called the Hope House for Riley.
They are constructing a new home on historic South Michigan Street.
Once the house is sold at fair market price, 100 percent of the net proceeds will support pediatric medical research and lifesaving treatments at Riley Hospital for Children.
The project was inspired by Riley patient and Plymouth native, John Mongomery, who received a life saving bone marrow transplant for leukemia there.
Jason Mueller, Communications Manager for Riley Children's Foundation says,
"It's a great story because it's a family that has been impacted by Riley Hopsital. John's doing great now. They've come back home and they're taking this project upon themselves to help others and to make a difference."Montgomery's transplant was in 2005.
He and his family and friends started working on this project in October 2008.
