SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - The University of Notre Dame will move its commencement ceremonies from the Joyce Center arena to Notre Dame Stadium to accommodate more family members and friends of graduates.
Notre Dame graduates have accepted their diplomas at the Joyce Center for years, but renovations at the center will eliminate about 2,000 seats. Rather than decrease the number of tickets for each graduate, the ceremonies will now be held in the stadium.
Notre Dame's ceremony will be held on the third Sunday in May, rain or shine, with only severe weather moving it indoors.
