Michiana cancer patients will soon have a more convenient place to receive care.
Michiana Hematology Oncology broke ground Wednesday on a 50,000-square foot regional cancer center.
Located next to Mishawaka's new St. Joseph Regional Medical Center complex, the two-story facility will offer oncology services, chemotherapy and radiation therapy and more all under one roof.
That's great news for anyone in the area whose life has been affected by cancer.
"With the dedicated state-of-the-art facility, research capacity and the expert oncology services, there will be no reason for anyone to have to leave the area," said Dr. Michael Method, Michiana Hematology Oncology's vice president.
The new facility is scheduled to open next spring.
