INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Police have ticketed the 73-year-old driver of a propane tanker that overturned and exploded last week, forcing the closure of interstates 465 and 69.
Indiana State Police 1st Sgt. Dave Bursten says Ronald Tobias was cited Monday for unsafe lane movement and driving too fast to avoid a collision. The maximum fine for each offense is $500, but police say Tobias or his company could face insurance costs for damage and repairs to the highway.
The state Department of Transportation opened the last of eastbound I-465's three lanes earlier Monday, and says the I-69 ramp leading south to I-465 should open Tuesday.
INDOT says tests found no structural damage to the bridge under which the tanker exploded Thursday.
ISP and the National Transportation Safety Board continue investigating the crash.
