Final suspect in homicide shooting turns himself in

The last remaining suspect in an October homicide has turned himself in.

Benjamin Harris, 19, of South Bend, turned himself in Thursday at the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit.  Harris is one of four defendants charged in the October 21, 2009, shooting death of Phillip Bell.

Harris was charged with Murder on October 26.  His arrignment is set for November 6th.

Three other defendants, Michael Mason, 19; Derrius Brown, 19; and Brittney Jones, 23, all of South Bend, are each charged with Murder and were arraigned last week. All four men are being held in the St. Joseph County Jail without bond.

The initial hearing for Michael Mason is scheduled for November 9, 2009, and the initial hearings for Derrius Brown and Brittney Jones are scheduled for November 10, 2009.

Metro Homicide and the Prosecutor's Office said that they were very appreciative of the public's help in finiding Harris.
