Rep. Mark Souder (R-IN) has a new challenger.
Fort Wayne attorney Phil Troyer announced his intention to challenge Souder in next year's Republican primary Tuesday in Goshen.
Troyer, who is a former aide to Indiana Sens. Dan Coats and Dick Lugar, called Souder a hypocrite.
"He may sound like a fiscal conservative when he's back in the district but I can tell you he votes like a big-spending liberal when he's in Washington, DC," he said.
Troyer said Souder has voted to increase spending 50 times in the past three years.
Republican spokesperson Steve Shine said today that Souder has been a "superb" representative and has adhered to the third district's conservative values.
