Here's an interesting fact, that you probably didn't know. 25% of the trash that goes into our landfills is food and yard waste. Maybe you want to help change that. Here's an option: Composting. More specifically, vermicomposting. Composting can save that trash from taking up space in the landfills. One way to do this is by vermicomposting. Vermicomposting is composting using worms to break down food into nutrient filled soil that plants can use. If you are interested in learning more, The Elkhart Environmental Center is hosting a vermicomposting workshop on Wednesday, November 17th at 6:00pm. This $15 workshop will teach how to vermicompost and why it is important. Participants will be able to create their own worm composting bin and care instructions to take home. Vermicomposting is easy but the bins can be expensive and bulky. The Elkhart Environmental Center is offering a smaller bin at an inexpensive price. Space is limited. Please call 574-293-5070 for more information or to register. The Elkhart Environmental Center is located at 1717 E. Lusher Ave (one block east of Main Street). Don't miss out. We hope to see you there.
