If you're planning to visit the county parks in St. Joseph County during part of your Thanksgiving Holiday, you may want a new idea.
Bendix Woods, St. Patrick's and Ferrettie-Baugo Creek Parks will be closed along with the Spicer Lake Nature Preserve on Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th.
During that time, the parks will be taking part in the Deer Management Program. Signs will be posted at all entrances to the parks notifying visitors the parks will be closed.
The parks are usually closed on Thanksgiving, but this is the first time they've been closed the day after. Park officials say it's an effort to save money during budget cuts in the county. Similar closing will happen next year.
