A 12 year old boy was sentenced Wednesday to juvenile prison for his role in the murder of a Kosciusko County man. The boy has been ordered held in the Indiana Department of Corrections Boys' School in South Bend. He can be held only until his 18th birthday, because of his conviction on juvenile charges.
The boy admitted guilt in a hearing on May12th. He is one of three boys accused in connection with the murder of 49 year old Paul Danner in April of this year.
Danner was shot and killed in his home near Lake Wawasee in Kosciusko County. Two other boys, 15 year old Colt Lundy, and 12 year old Paul Gingerich are charged as adults in the murder. They are accused of firing two shots each, to kill Danner. Danner was Lundy's stepfather.
The three boys were arrested in Illinois the day of the shooting. Detectives say they were on their way to Arizona.
The 12 year old who was sentenced Wednesday told police Lundy and Gingerich both shot Danner.
Lundy and Danner are set to appear in court Thursday. The prosecutor has filed a motion to try the two together. The defense wants separate trials for the two boys.
