Cass County police say the case of Kim Sue Stout has been updated to a homicide.

Stout's body was found in a field in Cass County, Michigan Monday afternoon.  She had not been seen since March 22nd.

Family told police she was with a friend at Bleacher's Pub in Mishawaka the night before.

Police say friends drove her to her home in the 200 block of Ardennes, but they weren't there long.

Chief Mike Samp pf the  Mishawaka Police says, "After she was home on Ardennes for a little bit, they decided they were gonna go back north to this other friend's house on Travers and as they're walking along, this friend tells officers that all of a sudden, she turned around and she wasn't there anymore."

An autopsy is pending.

Police say they have interviewed at least 10 people... including the victim's boyfriend Alejandro Huerda. He had been living with Stout for about six months.

If you have any information, you are asked to call Cass County Central dispatch at 269-445-1560.

Meanwhile, neighbors of Stout's on Ardennes Avenue say they were shocked when they heard the news.

Stout's next door neighbors, Catherine and Norris Bruce, say she was like a daughter to them.

She planted their flowers, mowed their grass and took them shopping when they needed it.

They think people took advantage of her kindness.

Catherine Bruce, Stout's neighbor says, "She was a wonderful person. She loved her son. She loved her home. She got herself straightened up. She was going back to school. She started school. She was good to my husband and I. She used to do all kinds of things for us."

They also say none of this adds up and they hope police get to the bottom of it soon.
