Mishawaka farm won't offer u-pick strawberries anymore

For a lot folks here in Michiana, picking strawberries is one of the highlights of spring.  But one local strawberry farm has decided they're not going to grow strawberries anymore.

Hilltop Farms in Mishawaka has been in the strawberry business for more than 35 years.  The owners say the past few seasons there are a few things that contributed to their decision.

The fields will now be used to grow soybeans and corn.  Hilltop Farms will still have produce stands in the summer.  The stands have sweet corn, watermelon, cantaloupe, tomatoes and peaches.

The U-pick fall pumpkin stand will still be open from September through after Halloween.
