
MIDLAND, Mich. (AP) - Midland is asking for residents' patience as it readies to make repairs to city parks damaged by spring flooding. The Midland Daily News reports cleanup and repair work is needed at a number of sites. A dog park and others in the city suffered damage after the Tittabawassee River crested at 28.37 feet last month.
DETROIT (AP) - Thousands have turned out for the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at Comerica Park in Detroit. Yesterday's event raised funds in the fight against breast cancer. It featured a 5K run/walk and a one-mile walk. Attendees gathered near the Detroit Tigers' ballpark downtown in a sea of pink. The color represents breast cancer awareness.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A Grand Rapids nightclub has closed a staircase where three fatal falls have occurred since 2009. MLive DOT com reports doors to the winding stairwell were closed at the basement, main and second levels of The B.O.B. nightclub on Friday. A sign posted to each of the doors read: "Emergency fire exit only" with security personnel standing at each of the doors not allowing anyone through.
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Police have arrested a man suspected in two assaults on Western Michigan University's campus. School official Cheryl Roland says police made the arrest around 9:20 a.m. yesterday. The name of the suspect hasn't been released. The first assault took place at 6:50 a.m., and the second assault happened about 20 minutes later.
