DETROIT (AP) - Anibal Sanchez took a no-hitter into the ninth inning against the Minnesota Twins in a 6-0 victory for the Detroit Tigers. The only hit the right-hander allowed last night was a one-out single from Minnesota's Joe Mauer. Sanchez set a franchise record with 17 strikeouts in eight innings against Atlanta on April 26th.

DETROIT (AP) - The Red Wings can punch their ticket to the NHL Western Conference finals tonight. They lead the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 heading into Game 5 tonight at the United Center. The Red Wings have won 5 of 6 since they trailed Anaheim 3-2 in the first round.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Former NFL tackle Dick Evey (EE'-vee) has died after a long illness. He was 72. Evey played for the Detroit Lions in 1971, but spent most of his eight NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears. A funeral home says he died Thursday in Knoxville, Tennessee.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say two University of Michigan wrestlers possessed Molotov cocktails the night the school's basketball team lost in the NCAA championship game to Louisville. Justin Dozier and Rosario Bruno are charged with two counts each of possessing/manufacturing explosives. They have been indefinitely suspended from the wrestling team.
