Some local college students took Saturday to make the planet a better place. About 40 Goshen College participated in the 350.org's International Day of Climate Change. They spent the majority of the morning sorting through 3 days worth of trash to find recyclable goods. The students are trying to decrease the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to make things better for the next generation.
"We as citizens and voters are concerned about climate change and are demanding drastic action now because we're concerned about the future of ourselves and our children and our grandchildren," said Goshen College Senior Ross Weaber.
After sorting through trash, students marched with community members to the Elkhart County Courthouse to alert public officials about climate change.
