Jerry Rice spoke at the College Football Hall of Fame's Gridiron Luncheon Series on Thursday.
After a brilliant, hall of fame college career at Mississippi Valley State, Rice went on to set NFL records that might never be broken. He holds every meaningful career receiving record in the book, and it's not even close. For example, his mark of 22,895 receiving yards is nearly eight thousand yards better than the next best receiver on that list.
And he looks like he could still play.
"I get the itch," said Rice. "But then I quickly say, 'Okay, after playing for 20 years you're really where you should be right now. You know, you should stay retired and just appreciate the guys that are out there playing the game.'"
Rice played for four teams during his NFL career, but he's best known as a San Francisco 49er. Rice won three Super Bowls and a Super Bowl MVP award in San Francisco.
