Community and religious leaders in St. Joseph county are hoping to reduce the number of guns on the streets.
They will be holding a gun buy-back June 13th with a no-questions asked policy. The event is sponsored by CURE, Healthy Community Initiatives, City of South Bend and City of Mishawaka.
A buy-back two years ago and were able to collect over 250 guns and they hope to collect more this year.
Dr. Dennis Engbrecht with CURE says, "Doing nothing is not an option. Too many children have died as a result of gun violence. Too many young men have lost their lives."
In exchange for the guns, people will be given gift certificates valued up to $75 dollars.
CURE is still looking for businesses willing to help out and sponsor the event.
