Stancati sisters plead guilty to meth charges


Two former Elkhart teachers plead guilty to dealing methamphetamine near an elementary school.

Sisters Maria and Michelle Stancati entered their pleas Tuesday in a St. Joseph County courtroom.

The 35-year-old twins were charged with dealing meth within a thousand feet of South Bend's Monroe Elementary School.

As part of the plea agreement, they will receive sentences of no longer than 26 years.

Michelle Stancati once taught at North Side Middle School in Elkhart.

Maria Stancati taught at Elkhart Memorial High School.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 16.
