A case of check fraud has St. Joseph County Police on alert.

On September 17th, a man tried to buy almost $14,000 worth of electronics, with a check.  The store held off on delivery of the items until the check cleared the bank.  When the bank said the check was counterfeit, the police got involved.

The same man, who has been identified as Steven Cylka, 35, of South Bend, is a suspect in several Mishawaka fraud cases and several more in Michigan.

Cylka is a white man, listed at 6 feet 3 inches tall, and weighs 230-240 pounds.

Local businesses should be aware of Cylka's intentions and be on alert for any large purchases.

Police are asking for help in locating Cylka for questioning.  If anyone knows where he is, please contact Det. Williams at 235-9569 or 235-9611.  People may also call Crime Stoppers at 288-STOP.
