Leroy Hoover's family joined him in court Thursday morning.
His three family members quietly waited as the judge read his sentencing.
Immediately after, Hoover was taken into police custody.
His brother-in-law Bill Shelton says now that the court has made its decision everyone needs to leave him alone.
Shelton says this has been a very difficult time for Hoover.
"You can see him, he's sick, he's taking medications for depression and anxiety. I'm not his doctor, but he's a very sick person and he cries about half the time, he doesn't sleep. It's a very unfortunate thing," says Shelton.
