Warsaw's Crystal Rosales spent Wednesday doing prep work for Thanksgiving dinner. But her mind is on Christmas and so are the minds of her two children, who already know what they want.
Jose, 8, wants a Nerf Blaster and Amelia, 9, wants PixOs. The children have made their lists, but mom needs some help this year.
"I lost my job in January and I had to move," said Rosales. "We bought this trailer and I've been going to school ever since then. So it's really hard."
Crystal's going to school to fulfill her dream of becoming a chef and owning her own restaurant. But right now, money is tight and she's thankful there are people who are willing to help.
"There's people that are doing it just for helping and that's all they want to do is to help whoever needs it," she said. "And that's really nice."
It's a lesson in compassion that's not lost on her children. Amelia said it makes her want to help other people when she sees others helping her family. If all goes according to plan, one day soon Rosales and her family will return the favor.
"I would definitely like to adopt a family for Christmas," she said. "I think it's great."
