It was a slow morning commute for many in Michiana Monday as we received our first snowfall for the year.
Police all over the area were dealing with accidents and slide offs.
South Bend police want to remind drivers to slow down, leave more space between you and other cars, and be prepared to stop sooner.
Lt. Steve Goen says it always takes drivers a little while to adjust to the snow.
Goen says, "The norm seems to take about a week for people to really get use to it and say Ok I really need to start planning ahead."
Goen says if you do get in an accident, first check to make sure everyone is okay and then stay at the scene until police arrive.
