A new ordinance in Elkhart means clear sidewalks, and a little work.
The owner or occupant of a property must remove all snow and ice from sidewalks along said property within 24 hours after either the last snowfall or build-up of ice.
If you don't, there could be a $25 fine each time. There will, however, be a hardship exception for those who are unable to clear the snow and ice because of age or physical disability.
