Authorities say they're investigating an apparent double homicide in southwestern Michigan.
Police say 39-year-old Carolyn Tarwacki and her 40-year-old husband John Tarwacki were found dead Friday in their home in Cass County's Howard Township. The cause of death is unknown.
Police asked the public to help locate a man who had been seen on foot near their home Friday morning. He is described as a white male, 20-30 years of age with brown hair and a medium build.
The married couple was found dead inside their home Friday. The Michigan State Police tell FOX 28 News the victims were discovered in the home about 12:45 Friday afternoon.
Police were called to the scene and sealed off the area. The Michigan State Police say the home is 979 Carberry Road near Yankee Street. The home is to the east of the Jerry Tyler Memorial Airport outside Niles.
Three nearby schools were placed on lockout status during the afternoon. Niles schools Superintendent Doug Laws told FOX 28 News that Niles High School, Ring Lardner Middle School and Oak Manor 6th Grade Center were on lockout status as a precaution for about a half hour starting at 1:00 p.m. No students were sent home and classes continued.
