Candlelight vigil for Niles couple attracts hundreds

A double murder in Niles continues to send shock waves throughout that area. Carolyn and John Tarwacki were found dead in their Niles home Friday afternoon.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Apple Festival parking area in Niles for a candlelight vigil.

"It's just heartbreaking. Everyone is in shock and awe about what happened. It's something you wouldn't expect to happen to these people," says Mike Salisbury.

John and Carolyn had been married more than a year. Family friends say they were a great couple and they were very active in the community.

"If there was a definition for soul mates, they were it," says Salisbury.

Several people say they're concerned the person responsible is still on the loose. Police are turning to the community for help identifying a possible suspect in the murders. They're looking for a white male in his 20's or 30's.
