For the first time in more than 100 years, liquor stores and bars were open on election day.
AJ Rodino, owner of Rodino Liquor in Elkhart, says Indiana created the law to prohibit alcohol sales because years ago polls use to be in taverns.
Often times candidates would persuade voters by buying them drinks, but Rodino says times have changed and it was time for that law to change.
Rodino says, "My dad started the store in 1957. Ever since '57 he was the President of the liquor store association and I can remember way back when he was trying to get is so liquor stores could be open on election day."
Rodino says they had a couple people call and ask to see if they were open Tuesday. He says they had their regular flow of customers come in.
