State officials and public insurance advocates are reaching out to more than half a million uninsured children and adults in Indiana to get them enrolled in free and low-cost health care programs.
State School Superintendent Tony Bennett said Wednesday that back-to-school paperwork for many K-12 students will help enroll them in Hoosier Healthwise, Indiana's health care program combining Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program.
Covering Kids & Families of Indiana, a not-for-profit that advocates enrollment in government health insurance programs, said Indiana has more than 130,000 children and more than 400,000 adults without health insurance.
