Man in custody charged with death of Mishawaka missing woman

Cass County police say the case of Kim Sue Stout has been updated to a homicide.

The St. Joseph County prosecutor has charged Jorge Huerta Cardenas (also known as Alejandro Huerda) with the strangulation death of Kim Stout.

Stout's body was found in Cass County on Monday. Coroner estimates put her on or around March 23rd.

Cardenas is already in custody, being held at the St. Joseph County Jail without bond. If convicted, Cardenas could be sentenced to between 45 to 65 years in prison.
