Some drama near Andrews University last night.
A suicidal man with a long gun had fired two rounds before someone called police.
Police responded to the 8000 block of Grove Street for that call just before 7pm.
A caller warned the suspect would shoot anyone who tried to help him, including police.
But as they were setting up a perimeter, the suspect walked out of his house unarmed and was taken into custody.
And that's when the situation got even more tense.
Milton Agay, Chief of Police of Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police says, "When we went to check the house to make sure we had no other subjects involved or nobody injured, we saw some canisters that were right outside the house that had hazardous materials marking son them for military ordinance."
When police checked their manual, they found the canisters could've contained explosives... so they evacuated the area and called in the bomb squad.
Turns out, the canisters were empty.
