INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Defending race winner Ryan Dalziel earned his first IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship pole position of the season yesterday in qualifying for today's Brickyard Grand Prix. Dalziel had a fast lap of 113.145 mph around the 2.439-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Johannes van Overbeek qualified second at 112.744.

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - All five Colts offensive players who sustained season-ending injuries last season were back on the field for yesterday's first training camp practice. Reggie Wayne hadn't worked out with his teammates since tearing the ACL in his right knee in October. Also returning for the first time were Vick Ballard, Ahmad Bradshaw, Donald Thomas and Dwayne Allen.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Former Colt and current Bronco Peyton Manning lined up behind a shuffled offensive line yesterday. He was also in front of a running back who took only 25 percent of the snaps last year. The quarterback who thrived on the familiarity of playing with the same receivers now has to adjust to a revamped offensive roster to start his third year in Denver.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - IndyCar has fined Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing $5,000 for a weight violation in the car driven by Luca Filippi at Toronto. The series also fined A.J. Foyt Racing $1,000 for a technical violation on the No. 14 car driven by Takuma Sato. The car violated the underwing height requirements.
