PACERS QUEST

Top-seeded Pacers to rest 3 starters in finale

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana Pacers plan to rest three starters for Wednesday night's regular-season finale at Orlando now that they are the top seed in the Eastern Conference.

Coach Frank Vogel said Tuesday that All-Star starter Paul George, Lance Stephenson and David West will not play. All-Star center Roy Hibbert and guard George Hill will start but are not expected to log their usually minutes.

The decision came less than 24 hours after two-time defending champion Miami essentially ceded home-court advantage to the Pacers.

Hibbert and Hill have struggled lately and Vogel hopes they can regain some momentum heading into the playoffs. Hill has taken a total of three shots in the last two games. Hibbert missed all nine of his shots in Sunday's victory over Oklahoma City.

RED SOX-WHITE SOX

White Sox slip past Red Sox 2-1 on error in 9th

CHICAGO (AP) - Alexei Ramirez scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning on a throwing error and the Chicago White Sox edged the Boston Red Sox 2-1 on a frigid Tuesday night.

Tied at one, Red Sox reliever Burke Badenhop allowed a one-out single to Ramirez. After Tyler Flowers struck out, Chris Capuano replaced Badenhop.

Capuano walked Adam Eaton to move Ramirez to second. Then with a 3-2 count, Marcus Semien hit a grounder to Xander Bogaerts at shortstop, who one-hopped his throw to first baseman Mike Carp. Carp wasn't able to scoop the throw and Ramirez, who was already running on the pitch never stopped when rounding third and scored without a throw.

White Sox reliever Daniel Webb got one out in the ninth for the victory.

CUBS-YANKEES PPD

Yankees vs Cubs postponed by rain

NEW YORK (AP) - The interleague game between the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs has been postponed because of bad weather.

The teams will make up the game Wednesday as part of a day-night doubleheader.

New York also postponed ceremonies marking the unveiling of a plaque honoring Nelson Mandela's visit to Yankee Stadium in 1990. The ceremonies, planned during the offseason for Jackie Robinson Day, were rescheduled to before Wednesday night's game.

A light rain was falling in late morning Tuesday, and rain was in the forecast throughout the day.

WHITE SOX-GARCIA

White Sox OF Avisail Garcia has shoulder surgery

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia has had season-ending left shoulder surgery.

The White Sox said doctors at Rush Oak Park Hospital on Tuesday repaired a torn labrum and avulsion fracture in Garcia's left shoulder.

The 22-year-old Garcia was injured when he attempted a diving catch on April 9 at Colorado. Garcia is expected to be ready for the start of spring training next season, without any restrictions.

Garcia was batting .267 with two home runs, four RBIs and six runs in eight games this season. He had his first career multihomer game the day before getting hurt.

Ricketts: Cubs not interested in move to suburbs

NEW YORK (AP) - Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts thinks a move to the suburbs might be lucrative but says his team remains committed to refurbishing century-old Wrigley Field.

The Cubs won approval from Chicago's City Council last July for a $500 million renovation that would include installation of a 5,700-square-foot video scoreboard at Wrigley, which turns 100 on April 23. The team also wants to erect a 650-square-foot sign in right field with a guarantee neighboring rooftop owners won't slow construction with a lawsuit.

A member of the audience Tuesday at the MLB Diversity Business Summit asked a panel that included Ricketts about the Atlanta Braves' planned move in 2017 from downtown to a suburban Cobb County and how the team could maintain a connection with the community near Turner Field.

Ricketts said the Cubs have been trying to avoid such an issue.
