The U.S. Postal Service needs to cut its budget within the next two months. They have to make a $5 billion payment to pre fund retirement benefits---but they don't have enough cash.
On the table is talk of cutting more than 200,000 jobs and closing nearly 300 distribution plants nationwide. One of those distribution plants is in South Bend, where nearly 300 workers would be laid off or transferred.
