A local supermarket chain is putting a stop to what's called "extreme couponing." Kroger spokesman John Elliott said some of its customers have been using so many coupons that not only would they get their food for free, but the stores would actually have to pay them!
That's why Kroger changed its coupon policy in September. From now on, shoppers can no longer use multiple copies of the same coupon for one item. Shoppers say the new policy is a good idea.
"Coupons are a good thing, but if they get out of hand, then we're going to pay for it," said Kroger shopper Felicia Andresen. "I mean, the store will suffer and we will suffer."
The new policy also says shoppers can only use two Internet coupons per customer per day.
