Halloween is less than three weeks away, and costume stores are already seeing some trends.
Superheroes, celebrity costumes, and pirates are among the hottest costumes for adults this holiday season, according to Victor Cao, owner of Fun FX in Mishawaka. And some popular costumes are from the latest movies.
"They like whatever movies are hot, like the Smurfs or superheroes like the Green Lantern, even the Scream characters," said Cao.
Still trendy this year for girls: Disney princesses. Four-year-old Ryleigh Nussell saw the movie Tangled, and her number one costume choice is the movie's main character.
"We're looking for a Rapunzel costume, but they don't seem to have Rapunzel in stock," said Ryleigh's mom Raeanna, of Michigan.
Angry Birds, a popular game for Smartphone users, is now a hot costume. Light up costumes and reversible costumes are also popular.
"Adults generally want to be unique and different, so they stay away from extremely popular," said Cao.
Cao had a tip for costume shoppers. He said make sure you try on your costume before you buy it, because it may not fit well even if it looks like it would.
