An elderly Mishawaka woman was found dead in her home Thursday morning and police suspect foul play. Police say a window was broken out at 84-year-old Lois Hickey's home. When they investigated, they found her dead inside.
David Wells with St. Joseph Metro Homicide says they are treating the case as a homicide. Police do not know when the victim died, but say it could have happened before Thursday
One of Hickey's neighbors, Ray Housand says she typically kept to herself but first started chatting with him because he keeps his yard in good condition. Something she did as well. "She shoveled her own sidewalk in the winter no matter how deep the snow, cut her grass, trimmed it out, raked," said Housand.
Housand says he doesn't remember anything like this happening before in the normally quiet neighborhood.
Hickey's car was missing, but was found by police Thursday afternoon in Riverpark. FOX28 News will bring you more updates as they are released.
