A single instance. Life hanging in the balance. Would you know what steps to take to save someone you loved. A shy, nine year old fourth grader says he knew exactly what to do. Logan Nunez was by his great-grandmother's side when she passed out in the bathroom.
"I told mom to call 911 and I performed rescue breaths." Nunez said.
The family says those rescue breaths saved Logan's great-grandmother's life.
"I'm just a kid. I don't think I did that much." Nunez said.
Many kids wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what they learned in class yesterday. But one lesson stuck with Logan. A lesson from Red Cross Basic Aid Training back in November. Logan's mother, Amanda Yost, is grateful for the B.A.T. classes and of course her son's bravery.
"He had only learned it a couples months ago, and he reacted that quick. It was amazing." Yost said.
The shy and quiet fourth grader doesn't stand more than four and a half feet tall, but in his families eyes, he's a giant, doing things much bigger than he knows.
"He's my hero, he is. And I'm sure my grandma's too." Yost said.
And to put the icing on the cake, Logan's grandmother will live to celebrate her 80th birthday, this Friday. His family says he's already given her the greatest gift possible; she's alive to celebrate. The grandmother spent about a week in the hospital but she did arrive home Tuesday.
