Saint Joseph County Prosecutors say
no matches were found in a national database for blood found at the scene of a Mishawaka murder.
The body of 84-year-old Lois Hickey
was found December 29, 2011 in her East
Donaldson Street home.
Police believe the suspect broke
through a window, injuring himself and leaving behind blood. More blood was
found in the house, matching that found on the window. Samples were sent to a
state crime lab, where it was compared to samples in the state's Combined DNA
Indexing System. The database contains DNA samples from all people in Indiana convicted of
crimes against a person and sentenced to greater than one year in prison since 1998.
No match was found in the state database.
The sample was also entered into a
national system. Prosecutors say they learned this week that system also didn't
find a match.
Prosecutors
say the Saint Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is continuing the investigate
the case.
