An Elkhart man is facing a charge of impersonating a police officer after using his cell phone to pull over other vehicles.

Early Thursday morning the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department responded to a suspicious vehicle report near CR-46 and CR-17.  A driver told them that a vehicle with a red and blue flashing light coming from inside was following them.

Police pulled over the suspect vehicle shortly after.  According to police, 23-year-old Malcolm Royer admitted to using his cell phone to produce the flashing light.

Authorities want to remind drivers that if they feel something isn't right, they can call 911 to confirm if they are actually being pulled over, or if it is an impersonator.

Royer is currently being held in the Elkhart County Jail.
