Warsaw Community schools have been awarded over $400,000 to build an elementary school focused on science and math. The new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Academy will focus on a Project Based Learning model.
"This grant compliments the mutual interests of WCS and our partner OrthoWorx in establishing a STEM option that meets the aspirations of the Orthopaedic community in which we live," said Dr. Craig Hintz, WCS Superintendent. "The Innovation Fund Grant provides initial financial support to establish the foundation for an award-winning K-12 STEM choice in the school corporation."
The schools curriculum will be built around local themes, starting in the first year with a focus on lakes and streams. Then, in the second year, to connect to Warsaw's status as the Orthopaedic Capital of the World, classes will have theme of human biology.
