A standoff in Cass County ended after almost 14 hours near Edwardsburg. Officials say one suspect was taken into custody before midnight.
It all happened near Redfield Street and Martin Roadaround 9:30am on Monday. Police say they were investigating domestic dispute when a man was armed with a gun by himself and refused to come out. He had been involved in an altercation with a woman, but she was able to get out safely before the standoff began.
The officers were out there for so long they were rotating shifts to stay alert. Police had blocked off access to the immediate area and kept everyone about a half-mile from the home for safety reasons.
The suspect surrendered shortly before 11:30pm Monday night. He is currently being held at the Cass County Jail on preliminary charges of Felonious Assault, False Imprisonment, Home Invasion, and several Felony Firearms charges.
