The Robotics Team at Penn High School worked long hours for six weeks, all the way up to a midnight deadline Wednesday, to create a basketball shooting robot.
The robot is able to pick up NERF balls and shoot baskets!
"It's definitely the most rewarding class I've taken at Penn," says Senior Whitney Grace. "You get so many different hands on experiences." Grace says her brother competed on the team in years past and that inspired her to get involved. "No matter which career path I pick, engineering, business or anything, I definitely got a feel for all of it."
Teacher Jim Langfeldt says the class teaches teamwork. He worked side-by-side with the students all the way up to the deadline. "This is a whirlwind," he says.
The team will compete with other students from schools across the country. First they'll take their robot to Purdue, then they hope to compete in Nationals in St. Louis this year.
