Southwestern Michigan authorities say they've identified a man killed in a barn fire earlier this week.
The Three Rivers Commercial-News and the Kalamazoo Gazette report Thomas Nipper died in the Monday morning fire in St. Joseph County's Fabius Township, west of Three Rivers. Authorities say he was staying the night in the barn.
Authorities say they believe he started a fire in a barrel to keep warm and the barn then burned. He died of smoke inhalation.
Nipper was identified through dental records.
