Man dies after shooting in South Bend


A man shot in South Bend has died.  The shooting happened around 6:30 Sunday evening on the 1300 block of Ewing Street in South Bend.

Police were called to the area of Walker Field for a man down.  When they arrived they found 18-year-old James Simril with multiple gun shot wounds.  According to the deputy coroner, he was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Metro Homicide continues to investigate.  No arrests have been made yet, and police are asking for your help in the case.  If you have any information you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 288-STOP or Metro Homicide at 235-5009.
