Slick conditions shut down the bypass for a period of time following a series of accidents.
Four people were injured when a vehicle collided with a semi near the US 31 exit on the bypass Saturday evening.
South Bend police say the vehicle hit a patch of ice and slid.
The semi couldn't stop in time and hit the vehicle.
Three people were unconscious when officers arrived.
Two had to be extricated.
The bypass was closed between US 31 and Mayflower.
St. Joseph County also handled a number of accidents on the bypass.
More than 30 were called in within an hour earlier this evening, but that none of them was serious.
