St. Joseph County Police tell FOX28 News, Notre Dame quarterback, 19-year-old Tommy Rees, was arrested around 12:30 Thursday morning at 716 N Notre Dame Avenue.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office has charges Tommy Rees with four misdemeanors.  They are one count of Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor, one count of Battery and two counts of Resisting Law Enforcement.

Rees has been released on bond, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department.

South Bend Police Captain Phil Trent said when officers arrived at the residence on Notre Dame Avenue they saw a very large group of people in the backyard and open containers of alcohol.

A neighbor told FOX28 News that he had heard someone at the residence yelling "Yeah! Chug, chug, chug!" coming from the home.  He said it was surprising that the police did not come sooner, because it was "pretty rowdy" at around 7:00pm.

Once the police officers entered the property at least five people tried to leave by jumping over the fence in the back yard.  Trent said Tommy Rees was one of the people trying to get away.  A police officer told him to stop but he continued to run leading the officer on a chase.  Rees was eventually apprehended in the middle of the street near the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Sorin.  Trent said Rees kneed the officer in the stomach and both of them went down on the pavement.  During the scuffle the police officer scraped his arm and Rees was pepper sprayed.  While Rees was being arrested Calabrese attempted to intervene, Trent said, when his attempt to intervene failed he threatened the police officer.  Calabrese then went back towards a crowd of on lookers but a few minutes later threatened the police officer again and was arrested.

Police also arrested 21 year old Carlo Calabrese. He is an inside linebacker for the football team. He is facing a misdemeanor for disorderly conduct. Calabrese paid a $150 dollar bond around 3:40am. He will make a court appearance May 17th.
