the St. Joseph County Prosecutor says South Bend police officers' shooting of a chase suspect was justified.
Division Chief Gary Horvath says during a
police pursuit, Stambaugh rammed two police cars, sending two officers
to the hospital. The pursuit ended in front of Perley Arts Academy on Eddy Street when officer shot at Stambaugh's vehicle.
Stambaugh was shot in multiple locations and taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The investigation into the offcer-involved shootings is standard procedure for county prosecutors. Stambaugh is charged with 5 counts, including Operating a
Motor Vehicle After a Lifetime Suspension of Driving Privileges,
Resisting Law Enforcement and Possession of Cocaine Within 1000 Feet of
School Property.
