Groceries for a Year Winner announced

A woman from Granger and her family will be enjoying free groceries for the next year.

Rebecca Bradstreet won the FOX28 Groceries for a Year Contest, sponsored by Meijer.  We'd like to congratulate Rebecca and all our finalists and daily winners who received a $50 gift card from Meijer.

The finalists gathered at Meijer on Bremen Highway Thursday evening.  Each finalist got a chance to pick between four grocery bags.  At the bottom of one of the bags was a piece of paper with the word, "WINNER!"

"When you saw your name come up Thursday, what did you do?"  FOX 28's Tom Powell asked Rebecca before she became the grand prize winner.

"I called immediately," she said.  "Half the neighborhood called to make sure I called."

Bradstreet made the lucky pick!

Meijer Store Director Rick Zeeff was on hand Thursday for the big moment.  "It was fun when she pulled the winning piece of paper.  You could see her hands shaking," he said.  "You saw the context, you know people were entering, but to see a person and her family so happy about winning it, that just makes it all worth it."

Bradstreet had two children.  One is in college, the other is preparing for a summer wedding.
